Within the framework of the Erasmus+ HOST-EG Project, AAUCA (Afro-American University of Central Africa) and UNGE (National University of Equatorial Guinea) have launched the advanced entrepreneurship training program “Launch Your Business,” an initiative aimed at fostering employability and the creation of sustainable enterprises in the tourism sector.
Developed under Work Package 3 of the HOST-EG Project, the program represents a decisive step in transforming Equatorial Guinean universities into hubs for entrepreneurship and innovation. Following the creation of Employability Council Units at both institutions, this new phase focused on providing students with practical training in creativity, business idea validation, and business plan development.
The course took place between April and May 2025 on the campuses of AAUCA, UNGE Malabo, and UNGE Bata, combining in-person sessions, personalized mentoring, and guided work. A total of 59 students actively participated in the program, supported by more than a dozen faculty members previously trained within the HOST-EG framework.
As a result of the training process, students presented their business plans, from which eight outstanding projects were selected — six led by men and two by women. The authors of these projects will carry out internships at the European partner universities of the project: the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University of Madeira (UMa).
The selected projects include innovative proposals in tourism, sustainability, and local services, reflecting the commitment of young Equatorial Guineans to the sustainable economic development of the country.
The HOST-EG Project (“Fostering Sustainable Growth and Employment by Building Higher Education Capacities in Hospitality and Tourism Management in Equatorial Guinea”) is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program and brings together four universities: UNGE, AAUCA, ULPGC, and UMa. Its goal is to strengthen higher education capacities and promote employability through training, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable tourism.
