WP1- HOST-EG Project management and coordination
In order to structure the project management and communication strategy, the management will be driven by a Joint Management Committee (JMC). The JMC will oversee the project activities and follow up on the different methodological and financial decisions, in consultation with partners. ULPGC, as the overall project coordinator, will coordinate this team. The other members will be two representatives per full member of the project so to assure ownership and a wide representation in decision making. The JMC members will accompany ULPGC with administrative and financial tasks in each partners’ institutions, ensuring the timely delivery of reporting and also ensuring that results of events, project monitoring and dissemination tools are well communicated, implemented and understood by all partners. The Joint Management Committee (JMC) will take decisions related to strategic management of the Project and help to monitor project progress. The JMC will work at a distance using Skype, Zoom or a similar tool and internet, whenever it is necessary online meetings and videoconferences will be scheduled.
WP2: HOST-EG Capacity Building in Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurship Skills
This WP focuses on the training of trainers (ToT) program on “Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Tourism” that will take place from April 8th to June 12, 2024 and will be taught by professors from the ULPGC and the UMa in hybrid format, including face-to-face classes on the Malabo, Bata and Djibloho campuses and online classes. Through the Training of Trainers (ToT), the Tourism and Business courses (including other faculties) of Equatorial Guinean Universities will be linked. To do this, it will be based on the specific analysis/diagnosis of current degrees, carried out in WP1, and a tailored training program (TOT) will be designed. The content of the ToT will focus on the creation of additional modules that will eventually converge the current qualifications focusing on promoting sustainable tourism in Equatorial Guinea and thus increasing job creation. The academic staff of the UNGE and the AAUCA will be in charge of transmitting the content of the course to the students of their respective universities.
WP3: HOST-EG Entrepreneurial Universities: Sustainable Tourism Employability
Through WP3, the project will foster employability directly though the creation of a mentorship programme for students at local higher education institutions to embed the principles of entrepreneurial universities in the local system. This WP focuses on promoting employability though the creation of a mentorship programme for students at UNGE and AAUCA (Entrepreneurial University). This will be done through the creation of employability counsel units at each university. The training programme will include tailored courses such as: Definition of Business Models, Innovation and competitiveness plan…etc. The methodology of the training will be done through workshops between staff and students. Students will then prepare their business plans. The best ideas, which will be selected by a diversified EU and EG experts’ committee, will be able to benefit from an internship period at ULPGC and UMA.
WP4: HOST-EG International Congress for the promotion of Sustainable Tourism Employability in Equatorial Guinea
The organization of an International Congress oriented to the analysis and discussion of economic, social, and environmental aspects to promote employability in the tourism and hospitality sector in the framework of a tourism human resource strategy centred in the ecotourism segment will be the main objective of WP4.
The International Congress with a Cluster of three diversified roundtables representing the Social, Environmental and the Economic Sectors (led by the Universities, which will become the HUB for this matter) will be created to address matters related to the promotion of employability in the Tourism sector, placing special focus on protected rural areas (National park, etc.). Local stakeholders such as the National Institute of Forestry Development and Management of Protected Areas (INDEFOR) and the National Institute for Environmental Conservation (INCOMA) will be invited to join the roundtables of environmental themes.
Also other stakeholders such as several EG Ministries such as The Minister of Commerce and Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Minister of University Education and Sports, the Minister of Labour, Employment Promotion and Social Security, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests and Environment and finally the Minister of Social Affairs and Gender Equality will be invited to join the HOST-EG Final Conference.
WP5: HOST-EG Quality control and Monitoring
The main objective of this WP is to continuously assess the HOST-EG project, and safeguard that the proposed contingency plans and risk mitigation actions that were initially established are being applied; ensuring the project activities are being carried out accordingly and in the given timeframe.
The Quality Committee (QC) will be in charge of complying with the 3 processes of project quality management: Quality Planning; Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Furthermore, the QC will follow-up not only of the technical aspects of the project, but also on the financial aspects.
The QC will oversee that the following overall specific objectives are being achieved:
1. To promote entrepreneurship training programmes regarding content, teaching methods, and research skills, which UNGE and AAUCA academic staff will later convey to the students at their respective universities.
2. To foster employability directly though the creation of a mentorship programme for students at local higher education institutions to embed the principles of entrepreneurial universities in the local system.
3. To organise an International Congress oriented to the analysis and discussion of economic, social, and environmental aspects to promote employability in the tourism and hospitality sector in the framework of a tourism human resource strategy centred in the ecotourism segment.
WP6: Impact and Dissemination
The dissemination of the HOST-EG project is crucial for the long-term compliance and sustainability of the project. To achieve this objective, the project partners will use different tools such as the creation of a website, official social networks of the project, press releases, radio, brochures, posters and roll-ups, seminars, publications, etc., thus creating awareness about the results and activities of the Project in the staff and students of the Equatorial Guinean Universities, local communities and other interested parties in the region. The Dissemination Working Group (DWG) will be created during the kick-off meeting and will meet periodically both virtually and in face-to-face meetings during midterm and final project meetings.
The DWG will be responsible for developing the Project dissemination plan.
