Between January 13 and 16, 2025, the Afro-American University of Central Africa (AAUCA) and the National University of Equatorial Guinea (UNGE) will host the mid-term meeting of the Erasmus+ project “Fostering Sustainable Growth and Employment by Building Higher Education Capacities in Hospitality and Tourism Management in Equatorial Guinea” (HOST-EG).
This project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, aims to promote sustainable growth and employment in Equatorial Guinea by strengthening higher education capacities in hospitality and tourism management.
The HOST-EG consortium is composed of four universities: The Equatorial Guinean institutions UNGE and AAUCA, and the European universities University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and University of Madeira (UMa).
During this mid-term meeting, project partners will review the current status of the work packages (WP1–WP8), with the objective of assessing the achievements to date, analyzing the progress of deliverables, and planning the upcoming tasks, deliverables and milestones scheduled for 2025 and 2026.
In addition to the working sessions, the meeting will feature two major events:
- The certificate award ceremony for participants of the Training of Trainers Programme, implemented under Work Package 2.
- The inauguration of the Employability Council Units at both Equatorial Guinean partner universities — facilities designed to foster innovation, employability, and the creation of new business initiatives in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
The HOST-EG project strengthens academic cooperation between Europe and Africa and contributes to the development of sustainable professional competencies in a sector that is strategic for the country’s economic growth.
